The main intention of Ayurveda is to maintain positive health in the healthy individuals as well as to treat the diseased. In this regard, treatment strategies are further classified into two: Shamana (Pacifying Therapies) and Shodhana (Eliminating Therapies or the Panchakarma).

OTHER PROCEDURES:

Abhyanga: Massage with medicated oils for head and the whole body in which the vital points are stimulated and it helps in the rejuvenation.

Pizhichil: The oils are poured on the body continuously followed by gentle massage by masseurs. 

    Shirodhara: Continuous stream of oil/ decoction/ milk is made to drop on the forehead using special devices.

Elakizhi: In this treatment the body is massaged with cloth bags filled with fried medicinal leaves.

Navarakizhi: This is a massage with linen bags filled with cooked navara rice, soaking the bags frequently in a mixture of milk and decoction. 

Thalapothichil: In this, the head of the patient is packed with specially prepared herbal pulp. 

Shirovasthi: The prescribed oils are kept at a bearable temperature on the head inside a feather cap.

Kativasthi: It is a form of oleation therapy where an oil pool is created in the lumbar region of the back.

Tarpana: It is defined as a process of keeping unctuous substances like oil, ghee or decoction in the eye as per the disease.

Yoga: A millenary science, yoga allows man, whatever his starting level, to slowly develop his highest potential, and for the most perseverant or the most talented, to reach what certain call the Absolute.

Yoga proves to be a supplementary mind-body therapy mentioned in Ayurveda. If performed in healthy condition, it maintains the state. For the diseased, it functions as a supplementary therapy; while after being treated, Yoga rejuvenates an individual.

It is important to note that along with physical health, ones psychological health too is of utmost importance. In fact, most of the ailments are psychosomatic in nature. It means they have a deep psychological element involved in them.
